Maintenance Engineer

South East

An opportunity has become available for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a well-established FMCG site in the South East.

The ideal Maintenance Engineer will be an effective member of the maintenance team and support the running of the factory by resolving breakdowns and delivering planned maintenance, whilst ensuring work is carried out to the highest possible standard.

Responsibilities:

•     Responsible for reactive and proactive maintenance work; including breakdowns and planned maintenance to the production line machinery

•     Attend breakdowns and keep machinery down-time to a minimum

•     Drive and initiate continuous improvement across the factory to enhance quality, efficiency, performance, safety and waste reduction

•     Responsible for completion of PPM tasks and daily checks in a timely manner

The ideal Engineer will be electrically biased will have ideally previous engineering experience in FMCG, preferably with Level 5 equivalent / City and Guilds or equivalent apprenticeship.

Requirements:

•     Previous experience of complex production line machinery in the food industry

•     Strong knowledge of mechanical process machinery, bearings, pneumatics, electrical control systems, process control, fault diagnosis and safety

•     Must have pouch and retort operation experience

The shift pattern is typically, 3 days on 2 days off, 2 days on 3 days off, repeating and rotating days and nights.  Hours of work are 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am (1.5 hours break unpaid). Standard average working hours are 36.75 (weeks are either 41 or 31.5 working hours).

This position is based in the South East and is commutable from Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Frindsbury and Downside.
