Experienced Field Service Engineer with solid background of automated industrial food machinery now sought for a global supplier of market leading x-ray and check weighing machines to a broad range of blue chip companies UK wide.

Joining a team of 4, the new Service Engineer will be based in the West Midlands or North West region providing cover to clients throughout the UK and Ireland. The work is challenging, interesting and diverse and you will be part of a business who invest heavily in new equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Installation, servicing and repair of instruments on customer sites
• Provision of technical support as required by the customer, over the telephone and via email
• Training customers in instrument operation and maintenance
• Undertake training in related products to allow for expanded Service coverage. This includes checkweighers, metal detectors and X-Ray equipment.
• Maintain electronic records of service visits and other enquiries, and retain associated documentation.
• Work with other departments as well as external contractors to ensure customer needs are met with efficiency and professionalism.
• Comply with health and safety and ISO procedures at all times

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience of service and installing electronic instrumentation and systems
• The ability to read engineering drawings and circuit schematics
• Testing and fault finding electronic and electro mechanical assemblies
• IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office products
• Full UK driving licence
• The ability to travel unrestricted throughout the EU and occasionally outside EU
• Willingness to travel around 75% of working time - travel will be predominantly UK based with approx. 1 trip per quarter in EU – you can expect c2/3 nights away from home per week

Preferred Qualifications:

• HNC (Higher National Certificate) /HND (Higher National Diploma) or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline – electrical or mechanical
• Experience with servicing equipment in the food sector –pharmaceutical or other FMCG backgrounds would be considered
• Ideally you will have an understanding of PLC controls for installation and commissioning work

You must be multi-skilled with electrical and mechanical skills with a maximum of 70/30 split either discipline. You will also have good instrumentation knowledge including the ability to calibrate.

You can expect a basic salary c£30-37k experience depending with an addditional £5-10k on top with overtime and an excellent commission scheme for lead generation within new equipment, upgrade work or service contracts. This is a home based role with ideal locations to include Birmingham, Coventry, Rugby, Warwick, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Wolverhampton, Dudley or Cannock.
