Senior Digital Automation Engineer - IIoT

West Midlands

£28-40k

Software Engineer with a digital automation focus and understanding of IIoT immediately sought for a prestigious and innovative business to be involved with research and development of new automation technologies.

The main purpose of this role is to support the development and adoption of Industrial Internet of Things technology through development of technology and service ecosystems, capture of end user requirements, engagement with technology adoption programs, creative problem solving, IIoT systems architecting and deployment.

The Software Engineer is expected to contribute to Intelligent Automation/Digital Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 related projects along with provide technical and sub-team leadership to others in areas of expertise. Also required:

• Technical leadership and management of project and/or work package portfolio >£100K;       
• Lead project proposal and business case writing for small and medium projects;
• Lead technical liaison with customer during project delivery;
• Lead engagement with existing customers to win repeat business;   

The Software Engineer will have a broad knowledge and demonstrable experience in applied IoT and M2M technologies along with a good level of awareness and desirable experience in intelligent automation and/or digital manufacturing technologies and requirements. Also sought:

• Relevant degree; Masters, PhD or industrial experience is desirable;
• Chartered or working towards professional qualification is desirable;
• Demonstrable project management skills;
• Experience in external customer engagement is desirable.
• Capability and willingness to develop new relevant skills for industrial intelligent automation and controls;
• Willingness to contribute to the development of sound concepts and solutions for intelligent automation and controls
• Demonstrable creative problem solving, solution concept generation and system design and deployment;
• Excellent programming skills (C++, C#, Java);
• Demonstrable expreience designing & deploying IoT/M2M connectivity systems ideally in an industrial envrionment
• Broad knowledge of IoT/M2M technologies i.e. IoT gateways, modular computing, sensor retrofitting etc
• Solid knowledge of communication infrastructures, network architectures and communication technologies
• Experience of specification of control & information network infrastructures

You will have commerical awareness of manufacturing industries along with a good understanding of the manufacturing sector and relevant technologies.

Any additional knowledge of 5G technology or cyber-security of industrial systems would be highly advantageous.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience, but you can expect c£28-40k with benefits to include up to 8% Pension, Subsidised Lunch, Contribution to Professional Membership Fees, Life Assurance x4, Childcare Vouchers and 25 Days Holiday. The role is Monday-Friday 9-4.
