This company specialises in the
manufacture of hi-tech special purpose machines, supplying to a wide range of
industries in particular manufacturers of automotive and aerospace. The
products are manufactured in Bristol and are distributed worldwide, with main markets
being the UK, Europe, USA, China and Mexico.
Part of a group with 37 worldwide
locations and employing 1500+ people throughout the organisation.
The successful candidate will have
extensive experience in programming Rockwell and Siemens products using Studio
and TIA Portal. Having experience with servo and VFD motion control will be a
distinct advantage. You will be responsible for taking a project from initial
handover, through development, machine implementation and factory acceptance
test to onsite commission.
You will be expected to deliver
projects on time so the ability to organise your tasks and time is essential.
You will need to be self-motivated, be able to work under pressure, with a
hands-on approach to configure machine devices and debug machine faults.
Some mechanical experience or
understanding will be advantageous.

supporting team members through the project process, so a team player is a
must, having excellent communication skills with team members and customers
Due to the markets they sell to
the successful candidate will have to liaise with people from different
cultural and working practices.
The position is predominantly
based in Bristol however travel within the UK and abroad will be required. Out of
hours support is also a requirement of the role but is generally infrequent.

Ensure processes are followed
& recommend improvements, then support their implementation
Testing & debugging, fault
finding
Commissioning of machinery
Robot/automated handling/systems
integration & programming
Participate in risk assessments
Develop technical solutions to
meet agreed project requirements
Take a structured approach to
justifying key engineering decisions
Providing technical support in
& out of normal working hours
Working abroad as required – USA,
Mexico & China (c8 weeks per year)
The ideal candidate will
have PLC & HMI
programming including motion control in Rockwell and Siemens – minimum 5 years
full experience in at least one.
