Service
Support Engineer now sought to provide a complete support service for an
established systems integrator to leading names within the Oil & Gas
sector. This specialist business are working on a range of high technology
projects across all five continents for over 150 global operators, EPC’s and
integrators.
The Service Engineer
role requires a high level of software understanding including the ability to
install and fault find across varied software languages and protocols as well as
IT networks. Providing liaison between internal departments as well as being a
focal point for external customers, the Service Support Engineer will be
responsible for the following:

Investigate and rectify software errors in
both existing (legacy) and new systems – and where applicable feedback fixes to
the development team for implementation in the base system
·
Provide skilled technical software support /
assistance to the Project and Service teams and assume responsibility for technical
issues when escalated
·
Provide feedback into the software
development team on, ‘Base Bugs’ as well as supporting with software fixes
·
Undertake site visits to conduct
installation and commissioning work, site surveys, system health checks and
rectification of system faults and software
·
Whilst in the office, be the first point of
contact for external customers
·
Provide technical support solutions to site
engineers
·
To design and implement software solutions,
especially in the areas of firewall and network administration and remote
connections
·
Be responsible for the creation of
documentation, e.g. software design specifications, test manuals, method
statements etc
·
Perform and/or supervise the configuration
of PLC's, bespoke software and HMI/SCADA systems
Service Engineer Qualifications &
Experience
·
Formal qualification in either computer
science, control engineering or related discipline preferred
·
You should be experienced
in the physical installation and commissioning of communications equipment with
the ability to test and debug communication networks.
·
Demonstrable fault finding and de-bugging
experience
·
Experience in the following would also be
desirable:
o
Modbus
o OPC
o Firewalls e.g. Cisco
PIX/ASA
o Windows Domains /
Active Directory
o Citect
Expected to
meet demanding deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards, you will be
well organised and methodical with a customer focused attitude. Whilst this
role is predominantly office based there will be infrequent requirement to
travel both in the UK and overseas therefore valid UK license and ability to
travel freely is essential.
