A Senior Project Engineer/Automation Development Engineer is sought for a leading food manufacturer based in Worcestershire to develop automation systems to continuously improve site-wide automation performance.

 

Process and machinery automation control experience is highly advantageous. On-site equipment includes blow moulding, process filling, packaging, utilities etc. therefore a broad understanding of solutions used within diary/fresh milk or cream manufacturing would be ideal. The primary focus of the role is on system design and delivery with a significant element of project engineering. Secondary would be technical support to the projects team (reviewing designs, enforcing standards, supporting FAT etc.) Teritary would be providing management support to the site teams for breakdowns, technical guidance, coaching and mentoring.

 

Key Tasks:

·         Management and adherence to the project management and investment process for technical investment

·         Ensuring project budgets are closely controlled ensuring forecast spend is apparent at all times from concept to closure

·         Adhering to all project reporting requirements

·         Delivery of projects on time, to the required quality and to the designed specification

·         Ensure all project completion and handover documentation is submitted to the relevant site teams

·         Automation system design, development and delivery (infrastructure, documentation, code)

·         Technical documentation generation, review and approval

·         Standards design contribution and enforcement

·         Documentation and software  control

·         Reactive support for operational automation issues within a clear escalation process

·         Coaching and mentoring of site engineers with personal development, system design and project delivery

·         Preventative maintenance, supporting site teams with developing structured automation health check reviews

 

The successful Automation Development Engineer will have indepth experience of Siemens controllers; PLC & SCADA to play an active role of continuous improvement, ensuring enhancement and development activities are aligned to overall business objectives to impact bottom line.

 

This role is based in Worcestershire and commutable from Redditch, Kidderminster, Worcester and Tewkesbury but will involve travel to other manufacturing sites throughout the South West and North West regions.
