Senior Controls Engineer now sought for an international supplier of global packaging machinery to join a busy and expanding team.

We are seeking a candidate with proven hands-on controls ability through the entire lifecycle of a project to include designing and making electrical control panels and PLC software based control systems for the industrial machinery sector. Must be able to write a complete system FDS from sales quotation and/ or customer URS, and should be able to design an electrical control panel/ system from scratch including the completion of Functional Design, Software and I/O Specification. Candidates should have experience with EtherNet/TCP/IP Communisations for Motors, HMI & Remote IO.

Responsibilities will include:

·       Monitor/drive production workflow from order through design, purchasing, manufacture & testing

·       Oversee and personally participate in System Specification, Design and BOM creation of Electrical /Controls, Software (PLC), Pneumatic & Mechanical

·       Oversee Technical Component Purchasing

·       Oversee and participate in Software writing

·       Assist the Workshop Manger with Production Scheduling

·       Coordinate Customer FAT visits

·       Ensure the company keeps up to date with changes in legislation in areas such as Atex, Weights & Measures

·       Provide Technical Support to the Managing Director

Software Skills / Requirements:

·       Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC Programming is essential

·       VFD / Inverter selection and set-up

·       Servo and Stepper Motor Specification, Programming, Set-Up and Operation

·       Safety Relay Programming

·       RS232/485 and/or Ethernet I/P based communications with HMI's, Drives, Remote I/O

·       HMI specification and GUI design + programming

·       Rockwell & Siemens HMI Specification & GUI Design are essential, Proface would be an advantage but not a requirement - training can be given

·       Can set-up own Version Control File Systems

·       Highly experienced and up to date with Eplan (ideally) or alternatively AutoCAD Electrical

·       Advanced user of MS Excel

Non Essential But Advantageous

·       Experienced with using GIT

·       Knowledge of ATEX Regulations

·       Pneumatics - Able to use Festo Fluid Draw Software

·       Good understanding of hydraulics

·       Sage Software for BOM's and Purchasing

Based in West Yorkshire, this role is commutable from within and around the following areas: Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Bradford and Leeds.
