Control Systems/Automation Engineer

This global supplier of automated machinery are now looking for an experienced multi-skilled Engineer to be responsible for design, documentation and integration/commissioning of equipment in the UK and Europe. c30% travel away from home is expected.

 

Responsibilities Will Include -

·         Proficiently utilise SIMOTION Scout, TIA Portal, SIMATIC Manager and RSLogix5000 IDEs

·         Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control station layouts, electrical enclosure panel layouts, Bills of Material and all electrical control hardware related documentation

·         Conduct machine debug and start up

·         Proficiently use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical

·         Interpret controls systems requirements from customer specifications, various project scope documents and technical execution documents

·         Develop technical and electrical controls systems requirements

·         Develop machine sequence and control flow charts

·         Develop HMI programs for machine control via WinCC/TIA Portal and FactoryTalk View Studio

·         Develop design documentation, operation instructions and detailed technical specifications

·         Provide technical support to Service Technicians and customers, as needed

·         Assist in the design, architecture and programming conventions of controls applications and be a key player in the improvement process of existing designs

·         Collaborate with Controls Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to provide a variety of machine controls system solutions

 

The ideal Automation Design Engineer will be degree qualified and have proven proficiency with Siemens and Rockwell PLC programming software with knowledge of national and international design and safety regulations and standards.

 

You will be able to read electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical design documents, have excellent communication and leadership skills with flexibility to travel, which is envisaged to be 30% of time to support European commissioning. A valid passport and driving licence is essential.
