Controls Software Project Engineer – Rockwell and/or Siemens

Control Systems Engineer ideally with both Rockwell & Siemens ability now sought to join a specialist integrator in the Midlands. The Control Engineer will join a team offering bespoke electrical engineering, software and IT solutions to a wide range of industries. They design, manufacture, install and commission turnkey projects incorporating SCADA, PLC, variable speed drives, motor control centres and control and instrumentation systems.

Projects of all sizes and types are catered for; from simple panels and control software to large highly integrated systems, with particular expertise in variable speed drives, motor control and industrial processes.

The successful Controls Project Engineer will have the ability to manage small to medium projects from concept to handover. Preferably you will be experience in both Siemens & Allen Bradley (Rockwell) control systems. PLC & HMI software design is essential. You must have as a minimum an understanding of/have integrated to a SCADA system, however full design is preferred. Drives knowledge essential.

Advantageous skills include:

• Experience of design and configuration of SCADA as Server/ Client system
• Working knowledge of Thin Client and Virtual Server configurations
• Working knowledge of other communications protocols such as Modbus
• Familiarity with Remote Desktop Services
• Knowledge of drive systems and interfacing PLCs/ drives
• Knowledge of ISO 13849 – machinery safety
• Any hardware design ability with electrical CAD package highly advantageous

You will be working on a range of machinery projects with key sectors including steel & metals, chemicals and aggregates. Projects are a range of simple changes to complete machinery design. We are seeking applicants who have not just an ability to write software, but who have a solid understanding of the full application and are capable to take systems from concept to completion.

Projects are UK based with site visits and commissioning required. We are looking for detail orientated Control Engineers who work well within a team and are capable to work directly with clients, along with a willingness to take on responsibility.

Additional payments are made for site working along with 8% pension and annual bonus. Additional discretionary bonuses are paid based on personal performance. This company are also keen to support candidates looking to obtain Chartered status.

Ideal locations for candidates to reside would include within and around: Stoke on Trent, Stafford, Market Drayton, Crewe and Leek.
