Specialist systems integrator for machinery projects seeks experienced Senior Control Engineer with man management capability in order to run the controls engineering team and ensure projects are completed smoothly from a technical perspective.

The Principal Control Engineer will have a solid background of hands-on control systems design, development & commissioning with proven ability in machinery design & applications. You will join a business who design, manufacture, install and commission turnkey projects incorporating SCADA, PLC, variable speed drives, motor control centres and control and instrumentation systems.

Projects of all sizes and types are catered for; from simple panels and control software to large highly integrated systems, with particular expertise in variable speed drives, motor control and industrial processes.

The successful Principal Controls Engineer will be responsible for

• Day to day management of a small to medium controls software & hardware engineering team
• Responsible for on-going training & development of the engineering team
• Ensuring each internal division works well together across every project

It is essential you have previous background of control systems engineering alongside proven ability to manage other Control Systems Engineers. You will be comfortable to be client facing, happy to travel to sites across the UK as required and must have enough current controls knowledge to be able to guide the engineering team. Hardware & software background is preferred. Any knowledge of machinery safety – ISO 13849 – highly advantageous.

Chartered applicants are highly desirable. You will be managing a Controls team across a range of machinery projects with key sectors including steel & metals, chemicals and aggregates. Projects are a range of simple changes to complete machinery design. We are seeking applicants who have experience of not just writing software, but who have a solid understanding of the full application and are capable to take systems from concept to completion.

Projects are UK based with site visits required. We are looking for a detail orientated Principal Control Engineer who is passionate about internal development. This role will report directly to the MD of the business and will have a genuine impact on day to day operations of the company.

Package is negotiable for the right candidate. Ideal locations for candidates to reside would include within and around: Stoke on Trent, Stafford, Market Drayton, Crewe and Leek.
