A leading provider of automated special purpose machinery now has a requirement for a Mechanical Fitter to join their team based in the North West. This role has become available due to company growth & new projects, meaning further skilled engineers are needed. This is an excellent opportunity to work on interesting bespoke projects for an established business.

£30,000 - £33,000 + Paid Overtime after 38 hours, Pension, Pool car access

Mechanical Fitter – The Role:

  • Time will be split between mechanical fitting and travelling around the UK to support site installations (20% UK travel)
  • Working as part of a team alongside the Electrical & Software engineers to build and commissioning new machines
  • Preparation, configuration, installation, and commissioning of bespoke machinery projects
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to assemble machines
  • Provide on-site technical assistance and support to customers, acting as a liaison between the internal project teams and the customer on technical issues
  • Troubleshooting / Fault Finding of current machine portfolio
  • Support the machine commissioning activities in collaboration with the commissioning team to a successful FAT & SAT

 

Mechanical Fitter – The Person:

  • Ideally apprentice trained within a mechanical engineering discipline
  • Practical experience within a similar role delivering special purpose machinery from scratch
  • Multi-skilled with electrical/electronic understanding and a mechanical bias
  • Experienced in working with items such as motors, inverters, HMI’s, conveyors, pumps, tanks, valves, sensors, encoders, couplings, gearboxes, safety circuits and pneumatics
  • Ability to understand technical design drawings and maintenance manuals for the assembly and repair of assets
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently on mechanical systems, including working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Capable of manufacturing components using workshop machinery such as lathes & millers
  • Motivated Engineer with flexibility to travel - site work if further afield will require working away Monday to Friday

 

Role will be 38 hours per week with overtime then paid at x1.3. Pool cars would be provided for travel.

 

Situated in the North West region, this position would be ideal for candidates residing in Manchester, Oldham, Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Stockport, Cheadle & all surrounding areas
