Mechanically biased
Machine Tool Service Engineer with excellent mechanical fitting skills now
sought for a global leader in the design and manufacture of specialist metal
cutting machine tools.
Based from their modern
facility in the South East, you will split your time between working on the
machines taking involvement in fitting, alongside international travel for full
installation & commissioning, with some reactive service work.
World renowned for
their innovative designs alongside being leaders within the UK machine tool
sector, they pride themselves on providing the highest levels of customer
service through their dedicated team of highly skilled Service Engineers.
Please Note: Due to the current
situation no travel is being undertaken with most installations being completed
remotely. However, this will change as travel opens up once more. You can
expect an installation to last roughly 1-2 weeks depending on size, and could
be expected to be away from home for up to 4 weeks at a time. You will be
responsible for c10 installations per year.
Main Duties:
- Complete machinery
build following technical drawings/specifications
- Testing machine
tools during and after build process
- Pre delivery
Commissioning
- Site installation,
commissioning and testing
The ideal candidate
will have:
- Completed a time
served or modern mechanical engineering apprenticeship
- An
Electro/Mechanical background – With a mechanical bias
- The ability to
communicate with confidence, both verbally and written
- Proven fault
finding skills
- Understanding of
CNC or PLC logic
- Background of the
service & fitting of machine tools OR special purpose machinery
Alongside the machinery
experience, we are keen to hear from Engineers who are also very competent with
mechanical engineering to include:
- Milling/drilling/turning/grinding
- Good hand fitting
skills
- Solid
understanding of mechanics
- Capability with
precision machining (to microns)
The successful Engineers
will be able to make decisions and work on own initiative. You will also be
required to have a full valid UK driving licence and a current passport that
will allow foreign travel.

Base salary is
commensurate with ability with an excellent benefits package to include OTE
£10-20k (always plenty of overtime available if you want to work it), site
expenses & allowances, death in service, pension and bonus.
This is NOT a
home based role as you will be working within the factory when not travelling.
Ideal locations would include within and around the following areas: Epsom,
Leatherhead, Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Reigate, Guildford and Farnham.
