Mechanical Design Engineer

This leading manufacturer is now looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their busy team based in the West Midlands.

For this role candidates must be HNC/D and/or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering. Must hold solid experience of 2D/ 3D CAD - preferably SolidEdge. Experience of plastic moulding design and manufacture is not essential, but will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop new switchgear and control gear products using CAD packages

Creation and completion of BOMs

Supporting the product development and testing needs of the relevant design program

Maintaining design documentation in accordance with company design standards

Translate written specifications in to product designs

Support of the product development and testing needs of the relevant design program

Integration with the design team and design function to play a full and active part in the design projects, suggesting improvements and ways of accelerating the program and reducing costs

The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, have the ability to translate a written specification into a product design, to communicate well and have a good understanding of electrical product application.

You will be also responsible for new product design to meet specification, comply with the relevant product standards and market costs.

This role is commutable from Tamworth, Walsall, Cannock, Telford and Wolverhampton.
