Dedicated Automation Service Engineer with solid Drives & PLC background urgently required to join one of the most experienced players in the systems integration market. This is a well-established client working across a broad range of machinery based automation projects, dealing with complex panels. You will be working in-depth with the control systems, having the opportunity to actively work on upgrade and modification projects.

 

This client has an excellent reputation for delivering complete turnkey projects to a worldwide client base and are a leading UK automation solutions provider and systems integrator. Working on complete Electrical Control Systems, the Service Engineer will provide prompt, thorough support to customers both on-site and remotely for a range of equipment.

 

Service Engineer Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance, servicing and breakdown repairs of equipment as necessary
  • Support installation, commissioning activities, field troubleshooting and upgrade work
  • Provide technical support to customers on-site and remotely
  • Participate as a member of an on-call rota for out of hours support
  • Provide a high quality service to customers
  • Be pro-active in supporting other company activities such as supporting fellow engineers, training, and assisting with sales and site support

 

Service Engineer Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ideally HNC/HND in relevant discipline
  • Previous experience of drives & control systems
  • Highly computer literate
  • Ability to work either individually or as part of a team

 

We are looking for a Service Engineer with strong drives capability. You must have a solid understanding of both digital & analogue drives.

 

In addition, you will also have experience of PLC’s preferably a mix of current and legacy systems i.e. Siemens S5 through to TIA Portal. At the most basic level you must be able to fault find a PLC on an application in the field. Ideally you will be able to make modifications.

 

It is essential you have experience of working as a Field Service Engineer for this position.

 

You will also be prepared to take part in a 24/7 on-call rota which will be 1 in 3 – an additional allowance will be paid.

 

This role will involve minimal nights away – c1-3 per week with the occasional longer project if assisting with commissioning.
