Automation Support Engineer - The Role:

  • DCS/PLC/HMI/SCADA support in breakdowns, maintenance, installation and commissioning for automation systems
  • PLC/Electrical (low voltage) fault finding
  • Modification and installation of control systems
  • Specification of electrical control components, to include reading of electrical drawings
  • Provide Automation support and maintain the integrity of the automation systems, support and assisting customers during system breakdowns.
  • To undertake automation projects or part projects from initial conception to completion
  • Develop ideas to improve efficiency and operation, take a keen interest in continuous improvement
  • Administer and archive automation software to ensure successful replacement of all automation systems and maintain all automation records and documentation.
  • Responsible for liaising with Clients, where necessary, for development & acceptance of requirements.
  • Responsible for support and development of front end System architectures, detail engineering, design & test specifications for PLC’s & Computer based SCADA system solutions & software applications.
  • Development, programming and testing of Integral software applications.

 

Automation Support Engineer - The Person:

  • Previous experience within a similar role with circuit design, PLC programming and high level fault finding
  • Experience with robotics would be prerefable
  • Proven experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to adapt and learn new software packages
  • Experience developing & commissioning using Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron, Schneider, Mitsubishi, ABB and Wonderware
  • High level of understanding of industrial networking (Ethernet, ModBus, Asi, Profibus, Profinet)
  • Preferably have a good understanding of drives
  • Ability to make minor modifications to PLC systems (change PLC cards, identify issues & rectify, read code & move sequences)
  • Ability to connect & backup PLC and HMi software applications

 

Offices are based Midlands and North West. Either location is acceptable.

Hybrid and home working is accepted after initial training.
