Unique and challenging opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a multi-million pound, leading global supplier working on innovative high specification machinery.

 

Electrical Design Engineer 

 

£40,000 - £55,000 + Hybrid Working, 8% Pension, Flexi-time, Bonus & Healthcare.

Electrical Design Engineer - The Role:

  • Design and develop specifications for electrical control systems
  • Liaise with the Project Manager and Project Team, identifying design requirements: function, reliability, cost, serviceability and ensure the design integrates correctly
  • Design, develop, upgrade electrical control hardware in a timely manner preparing and maintaining design documentation
  • Produce BOMs specifying bought our components and their source of supply
  • Obtain cost effective quotations from vendors for electrical control systems components
  • Provide technical support for the Manufacturing team, Procurement, and the Design Team, aiding with test and build procedures and the transfer of the product to manufacturing and the customer
  • Define appropriate, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly techniques
  • Understand technical risks, devise & implement mitigation plans
  • Ensure new product designs meet necessary requirements
  • Support product integration and acceptance testing
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Adhere to company processes, policies, and procedures

 

Electrical Design Engineer - The Person:

  • HNC or above in Electrical / Control Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ product development and manufacturing experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary manufacturing environment
  • Experience using EPlan / E3 series / Autocad Electrical
  • Knowledge of national & international electrical and safety regulations would be an advantage
  • Ability to work well autonomously and as part of a team
  • Good ability to make decisions and initiate action
  • Willingness to research and learn

 

This position is also open to a Control Software Engineer who enjoys hardware design.

Duties would include:

Design, develop, upgrade, and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI and electrical control hardware in a timely manner preparing and maintaining design documentation

Design of PLC electrical control and multi-axis motion control systems

 

Located in the East, this role would be commutable from Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Bedford, Hitchin, Huntingdon and surrounding areas.
