Control Systems Engineer - The Role:

• Design and programme electrical/electronic and software control systems in the machine tool, robotics and automation industry
• Program PLC’s, HMI’s and Real-Time Motion Control for hydraulic and electric drive systems
• Develop front-end systems using PLC or bespoke higher-level languages
• Commission systems on customer sites throughout the world (max 10%)
• Create and own solution designs to meet customer requirements
• Developing application code to the appropriate standards and guidelines
• Testing applications to prove they are suitable for release to the customer
• Participate in work prioritisation, work estimation and planning
• Liaise with various disciplines to resolve any issues
• Producing and maintaining appropriate technical and operational documentation

Control Systems Engineer - The Person:

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND preferred. HNC acceptable with other relevant industrial experience
• Previous experience of designing and overseeing the production of many types of complex systems and equipment
• Experience required in Siemens S7/TIA PLC/HMI programming and integration of various drive and motion control
• Confident with Allen Bradley RS Logix PLC/FactoryTalk View HMI programming and motion control
• Experience integrating a system with multiple devices on various communication protocols (EthernetIP, ProfiNET etc)
• IEC 61131 orientated programming experience
• Combinations of other PLC, HMI or other higher-level systems configuration skills may be considered if a significant level of experience has been attained
• Knowledge of other programming languages would be advantageous such as C++, C#, JavaScript. Real-time and embedded control. Moog MACS programming environment
• Be a team player with committed and driven attitude to achieve and a ‘can-do’ attitude

Located in West Midlands, this role would be commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Wolverhampton and surrounding areas

Role would be suitable for Engineers with experience of PLC Control Systems, Drives and Automation solutions for motion control projects.
